West Linn Government
The City of West Linn is a full-service municipality that operates under a council/manager form of government. The City Council sets policies for city government, enacts ordinances and hires, directs and evaluates the City Manager. In turn, the City Manager is the city's chief executive officer, responsible for overall management and administration.
The five City Council members, including the mayor, are elected at-large to serve two-year terms. Municipal services are provided by a staff of more than 100 full- time employees and headed by the City Manager. With a population of approximately 24,000, West Linn has fewer employees for its population size than comparable cities in the Portland area. City Hall is located at 22500 Salamo Road, and the main phone number is 503-657-0331.

The city operates its own police department, a municipal court, library and an extensive, year-round parks and recreation program. The Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue District provides fire and emergency services to the city.

West Linn lies within Clackamas County, which is headed by its board of commissioners and based, in neighboring Oregon City, and Metro, the tri-county urban services district based in Portland.

The West Linn City Council meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at City Hall. Council meetings are televised live on West Linn TV cable Channel 30 and are replayed at various times during the week. The city also cablecasts and replays meetings of the West Linn Planning Commission, Budget Committee, Board of County Commissioners and other public meetings and events, also on cable Channel 30.

Notices of public meetings and the West Linn TV program schedule appear on the Channel 30 TV Readerboard. Meeting notices and news of city government also are published in the city's Update newsletter, delivered to every home and business in West Linn every month. Additional information about the City of West Linn, its services and programs, as well as community information and links to other information sources, is provided on the city's web site.

City residents have many opportunities to affect city policies and priorities by serving on city boards and commissions and through membership in their neighborhood associations.
