Striving to answer the question, "How do we create a school
community with the greatest thinkers and the most thoughtful
people for
the world?" continues to be the mission of the West Linn-
Wilsonville School District.
Students consistently experience
success through high quality instruction, emphasis on character
education and a strong commitment to excellence.
As student population increases, the district's Long-Range
Planning
Committee monitors growth and plans for future facility and
land
needs. The committee collects current data and provides input
to the School Board.
The Teach the Children
Foundation was created in the fall of 2003, working with citizens,
school personnel, the community and its resources, to provide
the best instruction and effective class sizes.
In November 2002, the voters awarded the district a $75
million capital bond for additional classrooms and improvements
to school buildings in the district. Through the gracious
support of the citizens of the West Linn-Wilsonville School
District, the district continues to enhance programs and
provide the best possible service to students.
The district covers 42 square miles in the southern metropolitan
area of Portland. It includes two towns, West Linn and
Wilsonville, and a rural area of Clackamas County. The district
is a K-12 public school system with approximately 8,000 students.
The district has seven primary schools (Boeckman Creek, Bolton,
Boones Ferry, Cedaroak Park, Stafford, Sunset and Willamette),
three middle schools (Athey Creek, Inza Wood and Rosemont Ridge)
and two high
schools (West Linn and Wilsonville). It also operates CREST (the
Center for Research in Environmental Sciences & Technologies).
